Our Story - Pizza, Family & Shared Moments
Italy has always been one of our favourite places in the world – not just for the scenery, but for the way food brings people together. From wandering through food markets in Rome, to getting lost in Florence’s famous indoor market, one thing always stood out: meals aren’t rushed, and they’re meant to be shared.
Back home in South Africa, we’ve always loved cooking outdoors. Braais are part of everyday life, but we wanted something that pulled everyone in, especially the kids, and got us out of the kitchen. That’s what first led us to pizza ovens.
With a pizza oven, dinner becomes an event. Twenty minutes after lighting it, everyone’s involved. Screens disappear, toppings get debated, white bases get tested, and even dessert pizzas make an appearance. It’s simple, low-stress, and turns an ordinary evening into quality family time.

Pizza Oven Hire is a family business in the truest sense. All four of our kids are involved, from helping with setup and prep to getting stuck in at events. It’s something we genuinely enjoy doing together, and that energy carries through into everything we do.
That family-first mindset shapes how we approach pizza oven hire for events. The same applies to corporate events. Traditional catering can feel awkward or formal. Pizza breaks the ice naturally. It gives people something to do, something to talk about, and something they genuinely enjoy, without forced “team building”.

Founder and idea starter, always asking “what else can we do with this?” Loves how food brings people together and turns simple moments into shared experiences.
Go-to pizza: Tomato base with prosciutto, rocket & parmesan
Keeps everything running smoothly and never shies away from bold toppings. If it fits on a pizza, she’ll try it – preferably with a bit of heat. Loves Kids parties the most!
Go-to pizza: Chicken with loads of chilli and whatever else fit
Looks after the website, structure, booking process and the bigger picture. Focused on making sure the experience works just as well online as it does in real life.
Go-to pizza: White base, extra cheese, pepperoni or Mighty Meaty
Sources the gear, checks every setup, and makes sure everything is dialled in. Also our go-to pizza cook at home – confident with a peel and fast at the oven.
Go-to pizza: Chorizo
Our in-house tech brain. Keeps Pizza Oven Hire systems running smoothly. If something needs setting up, streamlining, or troubleshooting, Thomas is on it.
Go-to pizza: Pepperoni
In-house editor and official quality control for all things pizza. If there’s meat involved and it passes the Tommy test, it’s approved.
